After a wonderful innings of 93, we are sad to announce that Michael Wallis died peacefully at home on 26th February.

Michael was one of the last true gentleman bookmakers and was highly respected by so many racing folk across many generations.
In 1957, after National Service in Egypt and University at Cambridge, he joined the family firm started by his father Laurie in 1924. There, he continued building the renowned client list that was a Who's Who of the racing world.
He served variously on boards of Tattersalls Committee, RBA, BOLA and the Bookmakers Committee as well as the National Sports League where he was responsible for significant donation to the National Horseracing Museum.
His son, Simon continues his legacy in the bookmaking business, as does his grandson Sam, representing a fourth generation.
He will be greatly missed.
