New Bookmaker Assistant Registration & ID Badge Scheme – Effective 1 January 2027

Racecourse Betting Compliance (RBC) will shortly begin accepting applications for the new Bookmaker Assistant ID Badge Scheme, alongside the annual authorisation process for bookmakers.

The purpose of the scheme is to establish a clear and up-to-date register of bookmaker assistants who may work at racecourses across the UK and to provide racecourses with a straightforward means of identifying registered bookmaker staff.

Bookmaker Assistant ID Badge

Each registered bookmaker assistant will be issued with an official RBC ID Badge displaying their photograph and identification details.

The badge will provide confirmation that the individual is registered as a bookmaker assistant and will allow racecourses to verify that the person presenting the badge is the registered badge holder.

Information Required

Applicants will be required to provide:

  • Full name
  • Home address
  • An up-to-date photograph
  • Name of the bookmaker they currently work for, where applicable

Cost

The cost of registration and issue of the ID badge will be £30 per person. This charge is solely to cover the administration and production costs associated with the scheme.

This is a one-off payment. There will be no annual renewal fee for the ID badge.

A further charge will only apply where a badge is lost and a replacement badge needs to be issued.

Implementation Date – 1 January 2027

The new registration and ID badge scheme will become operational from 1 January 2027.

Further information regarding the application process and how to submit the required information will be provided shortly.
